In the present era as new generations confront climate change and changing tides in world leadership, we have the opportunity to revisit President Jimmy Carter’s legacy as we review and reflect on his unheeded visionary policies related to energy, the environment, peace and more.
Much maligned in media over the last forty years, this course will examine the untold stories of President Jimmy Carter, including his work saving the tallest tree in the world right here in Northern California.
Join us in a safe space to explore Carter’s legacy, using a journaling approach, discussion and exploration of recent books, films and interviews. Students will discover if these last forty years of media and history books could be rewritten to tell a very different story about our 39th President of the United States, and then answer the question "did Jimmy Carter win the presidency forty years after his term?”
The class will welcome a special guest from The Carter Center.
A suggested list of media related to President Carter will be provided, including books, films, videos, and speeches for students to purchase or review prior to and during the class.
