Did you spend much of your pandemic time looking at birds in the yard? Do you have an interest in knowing about the birds you see flying around during your daily walks? Introduction to Birding is for those with a newfound interest in birdwatching who are ready to learn the skills needed to identify species, learn about the common bird species found in Sonoma County, and understand the basics of bird biology.

Together, we will cover the four basic keys: size and shape, color patterns, behavior, and habitat; to successfully identify all birds to species and implement these skills in the field while looking at birds.

Students in this class will also learn about the basics of bird biology (e.g. how birds function) and how to contribute to community science and conservation.

Join us to become proficient in identifying common bird species local to Sonoma County, become knowledgeable about basic bird biology, and learn the basics of birdwatching as a hobby and community scientist!
