Do you want to start hiking, but are not familiar with the area? Or are you just looking to make new friends, get some exercise, and hike in a social environment while enjoying some of the best views in the North Bay? Hikes range from 4 to 10 miles with elevations up to 1,500 feet. While exploring the best local trails with an experienced hiker, you will also learn hiking tips and how to have a fun, safe, and comfortable experience while hiking.
You will learn hiking essentials including equipment, attire, safety tips, and more. After completing the course, you will feel confident hiking the trails on your own or with other groups in the area. The first day begins with a one-hour orientation for new students followed by a local hike. Bring a day pack with lunch and water, good, sturdy shoes with plenty of tread, and clothing that can be layered for comfort. Hike locations will be provided upon registration. Some parks have entrance fees that are the responsibility of the student. Consult your physician prior to registering for this course.
