Do you wonder about vintage postcards in antique shops? Are you looking to enhance your family genealogy or support the documentation of local history? Did you inherit a box of old postcards? Are you interested in starting a collection?

The most frequently asked question of postcard collectors is what to do with old family postcards and how to determine their value. In this course, participants learn about the historical evolution of postcards, including the various postcard eras and the significance of the "Golden Age of Postcards."

American postcards cover thousands of subjects, documenting glimpses of life as far back as the late 1800s. This course will explore considerations for dating postcards, as well as other important identifying characteristics to establish their significance and value.

Vintage postcards are used to document family genealogy, explore local history, and as materials for the arts. Postcard collecting is the third largest hobby in the world after collecting stamps and coins. At the completion of the course, participants will have the information and resources to find and store postcards and to start their own collection.
