Acrylics are more versatile than any other medium. Thinned acrylics are transparent and behave like watercolors. Applied thickly with modifiers added, they resemble oils, but dry quickly and are easy to clean up. Colors can be exuberant, and drying time is immediate, which makes it easy to move on to the next step, layer up, or simply cover up mistakes.
We will explore a wide range of techniques, explore the use of brushes, various tools and surfaces. Exploration of color will help us to work on shapes in the form of fruit, and a final project of a simple landscape.
Instructor's note for online instruction:
After each class session, students have the option and are encouraged to send me an image of their work. This arrangement makes it so that I may privately critique each student's work, and send back comments and drawings that will be helpful to the student for that lesson and moving forward to the next.
