Beginning Drawing

« back to classes page
This beginning course teaches the basics for learning how to draw.

The goal of the course is to be able to draw what you see through the use of proportioning, negative space, the modeling effect, and perspective. Different shapes including spheres, cylinders, and squares help us draw a variety of objects.  Various exercises are included to build up your eye-brain-hand connection.

Graphite pencil and drawing paper will be the drawing tools, among others. You will be pleasantly surprised how much you will see an improvement in your drawing, even after the first class meeting!

Instructor's note for online instruction: After each class session, students have the option and are encouraged to send me an image of their work. This arrangement makes it so that I may privately critique each student's work, and send back comments and drawings that will be helpful to the student for that lesson and moving forward to the next
