This beginning course in Italian (first of three levels offered) will lay a good foundation for speaking with Italy's natives. This course covers 40 of the most frequently used verbs and their basic patterns (aka grammar), adjectives (Bello! Buono!), vocabulary, and question-asking patterns, but always at the service of active conversation, centered on what you will need in Italy, and how to manage TIFU (The Italian in Front of You). It will also cover Italy's regions and its foods, and historically-important Italian singer-songwriters. A 160-page Course Reader is included, which is designed for this course and self-study afterward.
The course will be conducted online via Zoom; it is important to have access to a computer with video and audio capabilities in order to participate.
Italian Due (second level) will be offered in Summer 2021.
