Cloisonne Enameling on Fine Silver

ID : 8015
« back to classes page
Using your creativity to design a beautiful cloisonné piece of art is a wonderful experience. This enameling technique is over 1000 years old and your art can last as long as the treasures you see in museums. You work on precious metal (fine silver) with vitreous enamel that is fired in the kiln. Your design is created by using thin strips of fine silver wire to separate each color and then it is fired in the kiln. Explore this ancient technique and add your modern touch to your artwork.
Watch out, enameling can be very addictive. It is pure joy and fun to think about and execute choices of texture, shape, design and color. It can put you in a wonderful "in the moment" state of tranquility. There are many other enameling techniques to explore so you can spend a lifetime immersed world of creating art with vitreous (glass) enamels.
