There is an extreme shortage of notary publics-especially in the rapidly growing fields of loan signing agents and mobile notaries. These notaries can make an excellent income with their home based businesses. This class is designed to train students to become notary publics and pass the state exam. Topics include: how to identify and match people to their documents, how to check to ensure that the situation allows notarization, and a review of the applicable state laws. Class fee includes all handouts and a certificate of completion. This course has been approved, effective July 1, 2005, by the California Secretary of State and meets the mandatory notary education requirement outlined in Government Code section 8201.
Students will not be admitted if they arrive more than 15 minutes late. Participants must bring a photo ID to the class. 2X2 color passport photos and Livescan fingerprinting will be offered on day of class. The costs are: $10/photo; $80/Livescan. The optional state notary exam will follow the class (see dates & times below). Test proctors will arrive at 4pm to begin registering for the state exam. To take the exam, students must bring a photo ID (driver's license, passport, or military ID) in addition to a 2x2 passport photo to attach to the application, a check or money order for $40 made payable to the Secretary of State, and two #2 pencils. Study recommended prior to class. Study guides available online; information mailed upon registration (or emailed to online registrants when an email address is provided). Call (707) 527-4372 if not received. For questions concerning this class, contact the instructor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
