Do you wish you had more time to write? This course will give you the opportunity to explore the art of creative writing - poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction - with a community of writers in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Emphasis will be placed on the craft of writing with investigation into techniques that will enrich and strengthen your work whether you are a new or experienced writer. Each session will include reading aloud, as a class, from pieces by some of the greatest writers of the 19th-21st centuries. In class writing exercises will reflect themes from the readings and inspire you to free your imagination and write in new, exciting ways. Each class will include a brief lecture covering the literary themes of the week. The instructor, Mara Leigh Koslen has an infectious love of writing and literature and is often amazed by the high quality of work produced in her classes. She will be available for feedback on your writing, upon request, and there will be time in each class to share your work if you so choose.
