We will explore the major historical events that shaped the emergence of the Roman Republic and its exciting history up to the age of the Empire. This course covers the humble origins of this magnificent city, the creation of the res publica, the social and economic relationships of her people, and the implacable expansion of Roman power across the Mediterranean. We will also examine how our own society and culture are firmly rooted in Roman foundations.
