This four-session cousre will follow this outline: 

1.   An introduction to the Cartilaginous Fishes - Sharks, Rays, Skates and Chimaeras, and their evolution over 400 million years.

2.   Great White Sharks - Past and present.  Discussion of this charismatic creature, facts and fiction. Shark-human interactions and white shark attacks along the California Coast.

3.   Strange Sharks - Unusual sharks of the California Current. Discussion of unique species that frequent the California Coast. To include:  hammerhead sharks, mako sharks, goblin sharks, and megamouth sharks.

4.   Manta Rays -  The world’s largest ray, and likely the world’s most beautiful animal. Strange and charismatic, “Flying Carpets of Ebony Silk”. Discussion of three decades of Dr. Rubin's field study of this magnificent creature.
