« back to classes page
Hidden in the Cambodian jungle, a complex of ancient temples known as "Angkor" was built in the 12th century, first as a Hindu temple, then later as a Buddhist temple. The Angkor complex is one of the largest and most famous religious monuments in the world, measuring 402 acres, and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The most famous of the temples in the complex is known as "Angkor Wat," with its beautiful bas-reliefs and numerous devatas adorning the walls. Discovered in the mid-19th century by a French naturalist, it represents the glory of ancient Cambodia.
