If you are traveling for a vacation, business, study, hosting Chinese guest or just want to learn basics of Chinese, this course is for you. In addition to learning useful words, phrases, and sentence structure you will learn about Chinese culture and history. By the end of the course you will be able to understand common greetings, exchange names and carry on simple conversations in Mandarin. You will be able to understand directions and know how to take transportation in China. A wide range of techniques will be used to help students at multiple beginning levels including flash cards, PowerPoint, and role play in pairs and groups. Students will also be able to learn how to continue working on their own and improve their level after the 8-session course is completed. Required text: 'The Big Book of Spoken Chinese' First Edition 2012 ISBN 978-7-5138-0157-7.
