« back to classes page
Carl Jung, the late psychiatrist, recognized that dreams contain messages from the unconscious that, when contemplated, reveal information, guidance and support for the dreamer.  But how we  translate these mysterious messages filled with strange images, creatures and landscapes?  How do we learn to listen to this language of the soul?

This class will appeal to anyone interested in psychology, dreams, creative self exploration, Jungian thought or art.
Through two highly experiential days, you will learn about the aspects of a dream - the structure, the symbols, the characters  and creatures.  And you will learn methods for exploring them.  Participants will work with a personal dream through a creative process, using texture, color and image to explore the dreams content and possible meanings.

Though you will be working with paint and collage, you need absolutely no art experience or skill.  This very user friendly method is designed to encourage experimentation and self reflection while deemphasizing aesthetics.

You will leave the course with a mixed media art technique that you can use for ongoing self discovery.

You will also learn about Jungian concepts such as Association, Amplification, Active Imagination and symbol emergence through didactic teaching sections. These ideas will become alive and tangible through the mixed media art process.
