Judaism, Christianity, and Islam: History and Context

This class will examine the historical background of some of the most influential ancient religions, including Judaism, and analyze the impact that these ancient faiths had on the rise of Christianity and Islam. We will also study ancient histories, beliefs, and myths and find the threads that connect them to the major monotheistic traditions. This course will introduce some of the latest research in the fields of archaeology, literature, philosophy, and history to explore the cultures of the ancient Near East.
