ID : 7281
« back to classes page
Colored pencils are a fun, safe, and portable way to express oneself artistically. We will focus on basics of color theory and color application while drawing autumn leaves. Learn to mix and blend colors and use pencils to create tone and hue. We will cover a variety of techniques including blending, burnishing, and impressed line. We will work from a variety of natural objects. All levels welcome. Additional info provided upon registration.

Materials:
Pad of drawing paper, Strathmore 400 series or something similar, 11 x 14-good quality. I also really like Fabriano Artistico Hot Press paper (140 lb) available in 22 x30 sheets which you can cut into four sheets.
Kneaded eraser
Graphite drawing pencils, H or HB
Hand held pencil sharpener and something for shavings
Colored Pencils:
If you already have good quality colored pencils (Prismacolors, Lyra Rembrandt, Derwent, Faber-Castell, Caran d’Ache) bring them.  Otherwise, it is better to buy the pencils we need individually. Do not buy student grade pencils. Please don’t bring Crayola Pencils. They are too hard to get nice color and you will be frustrated. If you already own watercolor pencils bring them. We may get a chance to play with them. You will need the following basic colors. * essential for preliminary exercise (or Faber-Castell-comparable go by number not name) . You can mix and match)
