Street photography can be exciting and very rewarding; and there is a lot more to photography than just people. Finding part of a structure, a forgotten objet along the path, or even an overall street scene. If you “wish” you had the courage to pull out your camera and take a photo of that interesting person, or think that you are in such a neat place, but cannot figure out how to capture it with your camera – then this is the class for you!! We will cover the basics of good techniques with your equipment (all equipment, even smart phones are welcome) as well as hot to feel comfortable photographing a stranger. Understand about timing and framing and seeing that candid moment and be able to translate it into your camera. It is a chance to capture that special moment, a slice of life, the pulse and sense of street life around you. We will be meeting in class and discuss the techniques and logistics of good storytelling as well as developing the art of discovery. We will meet in classroom for an evening session, and the following Saturday we will photograph in colorful downtown Petaluma for the major part of the morning and then return to the classroom and share our results and experiences.
