The morning will begin with a short lecture. A group walk around the center will allow students to select the flowers that are in bloom and learn what compositions for their paintings of the day. Students will paint on location in the style of alla prima, which will be explained with various examples. The instructor will do some short painting demonstrations and show how to begin with a variety of flower subjects. The students will repeat the exercises. These exercises will enhance your color mixing skills, composition selection and application to create a painting.
After our series of painting exercises, students will paint a subject of their choice. The instructor will rotate to each student at their easel giving advice and help throughout the day. Students will paint using the information learned from the exercises as well as utilizing their own creative skills and interpretation of the subject. A gentle critique will be given at the end of the class.
