« back to classes page
This secondary introdutory class is for students with minimal experience with Spanish. The format is interactive with an emphasis on enjoyment and low-stress learning in a comfortable classroom environment. The class begins with a review of basics such as the alphabet, numbers, colors, time telling and clothing. Students will then study and develop vocabulary for new topics such as the weather, calendar (holidays, days of the week, months, seasons), family, careers, daily routines and activities, likes and dislikes, foods, common prepositions, feelings and characteristics, transportation and directions. Through games, music, paired and group activities, simple conversations, dictations, and the creation of personal dictionaries and books; students will learn to comprehend, ask and answer basics questions and follow classroom instructions in Spanish. Students will explore writing and reading using new vocabulary, phrases and sentences in simple Spanish. This second introductory class will prepare students to comfortably transition to a more academic Beginning Spanish class, when ready, where the structures of the language are taught.
